HIBISCUS ICED TEA

Here’s an idea for you, if you want to try something new and refreshing this summer: hibiscus iced tea. I like having it hot in winter, while staying warm under a blanket, working on my laptop, on the sofa. But in summer it’s different, and instead of warm, I like having it with a lot of mint, and ice. I will sometimes mix it with strawberries… yes! you read that right. Trust me, this combination makes it really special and it’s even more delicious and refreshing.

It’s quite simple. First, you prepare the tea and let it sit in the fridge while you mix the strawberries, some fresh mint and some lemon juice in the blender. This drink not only quenches your thirst, but it also keeps you hydrated throughout the day. It’s refreshing and it’s definitely a healthier option than buying something in the supermarket.

Here’s the recipe. If you try it, tag me on Instagram, so I can see it! @carlotafarina

INGREDIENTS

400 gr (2 cups) strawberries

10 mint leaves + some extra for decoration

4 tablespoons of hibiscus tea

The juice of half a lemon

Ice

Boiling water

Optional: honey or agave to taste

PREPARATION

Pour the boiling water and the hibiscus tea into a bowl. Let it rest for about 5 minutes. Strain it, allow it to cool completely, then put in the fridge.

We are then going to prepare the strawberry mix. After washing the strawberries and removing the stem caps, put them in the blender, together with the lemon juice, and the fresh mint. Blend for a couple of minutes.

Now, combine the tea and the strawberry mix in a jar. Add some ice in a glass, serve the drink, add honey or agave if you want it sweet, place some mint for decoration and…cheers!
