HEALTHY HOMEMADE GRANOLA

Granola

I have been eating granola for breakfast for many years ago and I do not really know why it never come to my mind to try to prepare it homemade before. It was when looking and reading at different recipes on internet that I realised granola is so ridiculously easy to make (and fast!) that I do not even think it is correct to call this a recipe.

So my objective updating the blog with this post is to encourage you to prepare it at home as this is a much healthier option than the ones we can find in the supermarket. Those granolas come with an enormous amount of sugar.

Also, this granola is perfect for anyone who wants to make it and has never tried it before. I am sure that once you make this recipe probably you will never buy it again. It is really such a treat, though kind of dangerous, at least to me, as I cannot keep my hands off of it!

All the ingredients I use in this recipe are organic, and of course, you can double or triple the amounts at your choice.

INGREDIENTS

170 gr oat flakes (2 cups)

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

5 tbsp melt coconut oil

4 tbsp honey

80 gr laminated almonds (1/2 cup)

A pinch of salt (1/2 tsp)

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 150ºC (300ºF) and start by melting the coconut oil (it usually comes solid so you will need to use the microwave or heat in a bain-Marie). To get the 5 tbsp melted I calculate 3 tbsp from solid when it is cold. Then, set aside.

Now, in a large bowl mix all the ingredients. Then, add the coconut oil. Once everything is well combined, drop the mix on a baking tray with oven paper flattening it well. Place the tray at the lowest level and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden-brown.

Once is ready, cool down before storing it in a mason jar.

OPTIONALS

You can also add more ingredients to this granola: 4 tsp of sesame seeds and/or 2 tsp of cinnamon, raisins or chocolate chunks… or all of them!

If you prefer you can also substitute the honey for maple syrup.

Buon appetito!
